TASC District III Elections

Campaign Guidelines

To run for an office in District III your school must have registered and answered roll call at the afternoon session of the last two conferences preceding the election conference.  The candidate school must have filed a letter from its principal that is sent to the Vice-President school (Whitesboro High, attn: Susan Bateman, #1 Bearcat Drive, Whitesboro, Texas 76273 fax:  903-564-4288 attn:  Susan Bateman) postmarked on or before January 31st.

All campaigning may be done in any of the following locations:  in front of the school (entrance to the registration area), between registration and the cafeteria, inside the cafeteria, or at the entrance to the auditorium.  No campaigning may be done inside the auditorium.

Posters, etc. may only be placed in the cafeteria or on the walls around the registration area.  There is no limit to the number of poster, banners, or signs you may hang, but you must take all of them down before you leave.

You may campaign until 9:30 a.m. (The beginning of the opening session).

You are responsible for cleaning up any materials you hand out or hang up.  Please be respectful of the host school and take down all signs, etc. before you leave, and make sure you pick up any materials you may see on the floor, etc.

You may not actively campaign inside the auditorium (no handouts, candy, etc.).  Also please remember that nothing may be thrown from the stage before, during, or after your skit.

All props and other skit materials should be ready to go.  A Whitesboro escort will show you where you may place these items behind the stage when you register.  Remember that your entire skit must not be longer than 6 minutes.  The timer begins when your nominator says his or her first word.  You will need to prearrange a nominating school and a seconding school.  It is a good idea to type up what you want them to say and sent it to that school in advance, but bring an extra copy of their nominating and seconding speech in case they forget the one you sent.  Keep in mind that mistake, technical difficulties, and glitches occur and plan accordingly.

If you have questions about facilities at the spring conference please contact Beth Hughes at 940-369-2062.  If you have questions about campaign guidelines please contact Susan Bateman 903-564-4208 or Sbateman@whitesboroisd.org.
